Un-Titled part 7

"Legolas, come on you need to snap out of it!" an elf said to Legolas, as he rode along without any expression on his face. All the elves and Gandalf had been singing and laughing while Legolas stayed silent, looking straight ahead. Some elves had seen him shed a tear or two. None of them had ever known what it felt like to love, so they did not know how to console him.
"Its only two weeks," the elf said. Legolas shot him an angry look.
"Legolas!" Gandalk yelled. Legolas looked over at the Wizard.
"Come here," he ordered. Legolas did as he was told and followed Gandalf away from the group.
"Legolas, you are going to have to forget Grace for now," Gandalf said sternly. Legolas scoffed but did not say anything.
"The next month you will experience things you have never seen before. You need to focus," Gandalf continued. Legolas looked up at the sky.
"I've never seen a creature more beautiful Gandalf, not only that, but her soul is so pure and everything I could ever want. I don't want to lose her, I am so scared," Legolas blurted out.
"I understand that I have no say in telling you how you should feel Legolas, but if you really want to protect her, you need to forget her for a while. In two weeks you shall see eachother again."
"And then what after that? a month, two months of war without her? I've only been away from her for a day and a half and I already feel like I am dying inside."
Gandalf shook his head.
"Love is such a strange and beautiful thing. It lifts you up, gives you hope.. yet it can rip our lives apart. You are so young, Legolas. You have so much potential. I know in your mind and heart you know what you need to do." Gandalf sped ahead of Legolas and found the others. Legolas shed a tear. He hated war. He hated everything about his life, except for Grace. To push her out of his mind would be like taking away all of his happiness. He caught up with the group and continued to think.
" I'm just going to have to make her my only reason for fighting. She's my only reason for living, I can't let her home be taken away. I'm definitely not going to let her be killed," Legolas settled upon. He focused. He looked at Gandalf and told him with his eyes that he was ready to do whatever he needed to do. Gandalf nodded, understanding.
"Alright gang, we stop here and rest. Tomorrow, we meet the ents a few more miles away from here. Also on tomorrows agenda we are going to start undamming the river," Legolas suddenly took charge. He hopped off his horse and began to set up camp. Dumbfounded the other elves slowly one by one began to help.
The elves stayed up most of the night talking and telling stories. For a moment or two, Legolas actually stopped thinking about Grace. He felt some what guilty, for he knew she was back at Mirkwood, miserable without him..

"Grace! Please get up," Lenora begged, knealing beside Grace's bed. Grace had a pillow over her head and was in her night gown. the sun rose high over the sky.
"Please, you have been in here for days, you need to start living again. You will see him!" Lenora tried. She crawled into bed with Grace and lifted the pillow off her head.
"Legolas would not want to see you cry, please, get up!" Lenora said, playing with her friends hair. Grace turned around towards Lenora.
"He leaves and I realize he has become my life. Without him I have nothing better to do," she whispered.
"Well thanks!" Lenora said, jokingly, "I am here too you know. I HAVE been here, even before Legolas came back." Grace smiled at her friend.
"What?! was that a SMILE?!" Lenora said astonished.
"Shut up," Grace said, giggling. She hit her friend softly with her pillow. Lenora got up fromt he bed and dragged Grace out by her arms.
"We are going down to th lake and you are going to cleans yourslef, because frankly, you stink!"
Grace laughed as Lenora dragged her to the lake. When she got there she remembered that night when she and Legolas shared their first kiss. She sighed and felt sad all over again. She was about to turn back and climb into bed when Lenora pushed her into the water.
"You BRAT!" Grace screeched, as she came up fromt he water. She was still dressed and her hair was mopped all over her face. She heard Lenora laughing, and she too began to laugh.
"Lenora," she said, after she could breathe, "You are my best friend." Lenora sat down on the bank and put her feet in the water.
"You are mine too, Grace," she smiled down at her friend. Grace grabbed Lenora by the ankles and pulled her into the water.
"Ha!" she laughed as Lenora merged fromt he surface. They began to laugh again, and Grace almost felt all better. Everytime she looked at the spot where she kissed Legolas that night, she felt her heart sink, but Lenora was always there beside her to make her laugh and feel right again.
" I've got to live my life, now," she thought to herself.
" just until Legolas gets back."
