"Ugh," Jamie grunted as she plopped her suitcase down in front of her apartment door. She had just gotten back from a very long two months in New York city, and she was utterly exausted. She struggled to find her house key in her purse. Whining, Jamie dropped another suitcase from her shoulder. "Thank God.." she mumbled as she found the key, inserting it into her padlock. Jamie slung her purse back over her shoulder and took her two suitcases by the handle. She practically fell into her apartment, stumbling over the two large trunks. "Damn it!" she said in frustration. She had had a rough day getting back, and she felt tired and aggitated. She had left for the airport at 11:30pm, knowing that it would take at least two hours to get through the checks and the searches. She was right. she couldn't blieve the security guards made her take of her shoes! When she got to her gate, she was expecting to be late. It was not her that was late to the gate, though, it was the plane! She and the other passengers sat at the gate for an hour and a half more, waiting for the plane to arrive. Jamie checked her watch nervously. She knew if the plane didn't arrive soon she would miss her connecting flight back home to LA. The plane finally did come though, and she found her seat in between a pregnant lady, and a very suspicious looking man. Throughout the whole plane ride, the pregnant woman kept having to get up and use the restroom. As soon as Jamie would close her eyes, she would feel a light tap on her shoulder and would open them back up to the woman. As for the suspicious looking man, he wasn't any better, in fact he was worse! She watched him steal liquor bottles form the refreshments cart. She listened to him for an hour talking about whats wrong with the current ways of the world. She suffered through his countless stories of failed marraiges and job transfers. When she finally landed in Chicago, IL she felt relieved to get away from them both. As soon as she stepped off the plane, a flight attendent appeard out of no where. "Are you Miss. Jamie Preston?" asked the lady, who had bleach blonde hair that looked like it might ignight if there happened to be a spark near it. "Yes thats me" Jamie said with a fake smile. "We are truly sorry, but due to the delay in the flight here, your connection flight to LA has taken off about 5 minutes ago.." The woman's cakey face smushed into a fake sympathetic expression. "@#%$." Jamie said outloud, "What do I do now?" "well, we have a VERY nice lounge around the corner. There will be another connection flight to LA at 8:15!" Jamie's jaw dropped. 8:15?? She had to spend 5 hours in the airport? In some lounge that probably smelled of smoke and vomit, as all airport lounges do. "Well there is nothing you can do about it.." Jamie thought to herself. She just nodded to the flight attendent and followed her to the lounge. "Yep," she thought as she entered the lounge, "vomit and smoke." She took a seat in an old shabby looking couch and pulled out a novel she had been reading. "Ow!" she squealed as an alphabet block hit her head. She looked up to see a small child watching her, with another block aimed at her head. "Taylor!" she heard a nervous voice, "Don't throw things!" She watched as the woman picked her kid up by the waist and swing him underneath her arm. She couldn't help but chuckle to herself. She continued reading her book. A few hours later, and only 3 pages left in her book to read, Jamie became terribly bored. She got up and walked around the airport. She floated around in the shops, and bought a few things - some gum, mints, a shotglass, and she squealed when she saw the latest issue of People Magazine. "Veronica will love this!" she thought to herself, snatching the magazine from the rack. On the cover was her next door neighbors celebrity dream boat, Tom Cruise. She, personally, thought he looked like a mouse, but she knew her friend would enjoy the four page article (with pictuers!) on him. After buying a few other nicknacks, she felt her stomach growling. Finding herself at a cheap restaurant in the airport, she ordered a hotdog with nothing but ketchup and a coca-cola on the side. When she got back to the lounge, she found her book in shreds and pages flying all over. "What the-!" she screamed, almost dropping her food. The little boy was back and had found it funny to mangle her book. "What are you doing?" she screeched, lunging for her book. "Taylor no!" she heard the mother again. Jamie sighed as the mother dragged her son away again. "Great.. just.. great," she thought, picking up the last 3 pages of the book. She started to finish up her book when the flight attendent appeard again. "Miss. Preston, I'll take you to your gate now," the woman said, batting her gloopy clumpy eyelashes. Jamie gathered her things and downed the last of her hotdog. She followed the woman to a near-abandoned gate. There were only 7 other people waiting. She boarded the plane and took a seat next to a window. she heard the pilot talking with the flight attendants, and the flight attendants giggling at everything he said. ".. so then I said, come back to MY place baby, and I'll make SURE you get the right service that you deserve!" the pilot laughed, finishing his story and walking back into the cockpit. Jamie rolled her eyes at the disturbing story. She looked out the foggy window and watched the lights on the run way. "Almost home.." she thought to herself, putting on her headphones and closing her eyes. Jamie flipped on the lights. She sighed in reliefe. "It is so good to be home," she said, stretching and dropping her purse on her kitchen counter. She walked up to her answering machine. "32 new messages!?!" she screamed outloud. "Ugh I'm too tired to listen to them," she settled upon, plopping down on her couch. She pulled off her boots and pulled her feet up onto the armrest. She looked at the clock and groaned. "I should have been home at 6:30, not 12:45.." Jamie fluffed a pillow and layed her head on it. Before she could even think about anything, her eyes had closed and she had fallen fast asleep. Jamie awoke with a start as she heard loud music through her walls. She was confused and didn't know where she was. He head hurt and she couldn't see anything. She looked at the clock. 3:30 am. She growled and remembered where she was. "Jeez, Veronica," she said outloud. She got up and stormed out of her aparment, and to the next door down from hers. She banged fiercly on the door. The music was still very loud. "VERONICA!! FOR CHRIST'S SAKE CAN YOU PLEASE TURN THE MUSIC DOWN?! ITS 3:30 IN THE MORNING!!!" she yelled through the door. the music kept going. She began to get frusturated. All she wanted to do was sleep! "WILL YOU PLEASE TURN THE MUSI-" she stopped as the door swung open, and a somewhat tall, tan man with black hair gelled into a faux mohawk, high cheekbones, and wild, yet soft brown eyes, looked at her with annoyance. "You're not Veronica.. heh.." she laughed nervously. The mans face softened as he realized a beautiful woman was standing in front of him. Her curly blonde hair floated in the faint wind that passed though. She seemed to be about 5'7, "cute outfit," he thought to himself. She was wearing a white, untucked collared shirt with blue pinstripes and a gray pair of tight jeans. The thing about her that really stood out were her eyes. They were blue, with a green ring around the pupil, and her long eyelashes seemed to flirt on their own. "Sorry about the music," he said, with a smooth soft voice. He picked up a remote control and pointed it towards a big stereo, turning it off. He turned back around to her. "You must be Jamie," he said holding out his hand with a flirtatious smile. Jamie returned the smile and gave him her hand. "Yea thats me, who are you? A new boyfriend of Veronica's?" "Veronica?" the man looked confused, "Oh! the chick that let me rent out this place!" Jamie looked at him with a puzzled face. "I'm an actor, my name is Orlando Bloom. I am working on a film here in-in-nn LA. Your friend let me rent her uh apartment out, about a week ago, while I stay here," he explained, stuttering. Jamie smiled at his precious accent. "Oh.. so where did she go? Sorry, I just got home today and I guess I should have checked my messages!" Orlando gave her a grin. "She's staying at a friends house, I think.. I'm not really sure" he answered. There was a moment of awkward silence. Orlando put his hands in his pockets and Jamie crossed her arms. "Well, um, sorry about banging on your door like a lunatic!" Jamie said, blushing again. "No problem, I shouldn't have had it up this loud anyway. I didn't realize it was so late," he replied with laugh. "Nice to meet you.. Orlando was it?" Jamie asked. "Yea.. Jamie," he said with a silly smirk. Jamie waved awkwardly as she turned to leave. Orlando watched her walk down the hall a little more. "Goodnight! Welcome back!" he yelled down to her. "Thanks!" Jamie said, disappearing into her apartment door. Orlando whistled quietly to himself. He went back into the apartment, shutting the door behind him. Jamie hummed to herself as she shoved a spoonful of fruit loops in her mouth. She slept in until 2:30 and it felt great! She was still in her pajama pants and her rainbowbright T-shirt when she heard a knock on her door. In good spirits she danced to the door, still holding her bowl of fruit loops. She opened the door to her new neighbors gorgeous face and almost choked on a fruit loop. "Hi!" she said, turning red, and realizing she was still in her PJs. She touched her hair nervously and blushed even more as she realized that her hair looked like the result from an electric shock. Orlando just smiled politely down at her. "Oooh! Fruit Loops! Cool." he said, laughing. Jamie giggled and fed herself another spoonful. "Whats up?" she asked, after swallowing. "Nothing much really, I just thought maybe you could help me.." "Whats wrong?" "Well, since the second or third day I've been here, I could swear that it hasn't been hotter than 50 degrees in that damn apartment!" Jamie laughed. "Oh! Yea I can help you there. Veronica had this problem all the time." she set her fruitloops on her kitchen table and hopped out of her apartment in front of Orlando. She waited for him to open the door, and then let herself in. Orlando watched her in amusement. She looked rather funny, her curls springing this way and that, her sheep pajama pants almost falling off of her waist. He tried not to laugh. "What are you doing?" he asked, noticing she was trying to pull his couch back fromt he wall, and with no avail at that. "I'm.. trying.. to.. move.. this.. thing!" she grunted, pulling as hard as she could. Orlando stood behind her watching her efforts. Aside from restraining himself from laughing, he tried to keep from looking at her butt, which was stuck out in the air in her attempt to move the couch. Finally, after only gaining about 4 inches, she gave up and gave Orlando a helpless look. "Can you help me?" she asked, blowing a curl out of her face. Orlando chuckled. "Sure.." he said, getting up behind her, wrapping his hands around the arm rest. "Ready?" Jamie asked, "one, two, three, pull!" she said. The two started pulling the couch, and moving it! "Almost!" Jamie said, through her moans and groans. All of the sudden her hand slipped and her elbow went flying back into Orlando's groin. "Oh my god!" she breathed, putting her hands to her mouth, as Orlando's face lost color and he toppled over. She quickly knealt down by his side, pushing her hair behind her ears. "Oh my God Orlando I am SO sorry!" she said. Her hands moved around awkwardly, as she wanted to help but it would be inappropriate to go near his groin. Orlando coughed and sputtered and groaned. "Okay! I heard this works, hold on," Jamie said. She got behind Orlando and lifted him up to a sitting position. "Pull your knees up," she ordered. Orlando, still trying to catch his breath, did as he was told. She put his hand on his back and gently pushed his upper body towards his knees. Confused, Orlando automatically resisted to her push, so she put her chest on his back and leaned into him. "Trust me ok?" she said into his ear, "Relax, try to breathe slowly.." Orlando could feel the pain was going away, and his breath was coming back. He began to laugh. He looked over his shoulder as far as he could to see Jamie's face. "That was amazing!" he said, fully recuperated. Jamie eased off of his back. "So you feel better now?" she asked. "Well, no," he said, turning towards her and giving her a grin, "but at least I can breathe.." Jamie turned pink again. "Why am I always embarassing myself around you?" she asked, laughing nervously. Orlando also laughed and just shook his head. "Anyway.. back to fixing this temperature!" Jamie said, rubbing her arms. Orlando saw the goosebumps on her arms. "Would you like to borrow a sweater, or a shirt of mine?" he asked, his eyes full of concern. Jamie couldn't help but smile at his expression. "No, no thanks, I can manage," she said as she stood up and went back to work. Orlando watched her again. "You see there is a little thermostat back behind this couch. Veronica hid it because she thought it looked ugly," Jamie said, laughing. "Ohh... I see.." Orlando said, looking over Jamie's shoulder and watching her move the lever to "heat". "Well I feel stupid," he said, scratching his head and grinning at her. "Don't! After all, Veronica lived here for three years and never figured that thing out!" Jamie told him, smiling. They both pushed the couch back into its place. "Would you like some coffee, tea.. fruit loops?" Orlando laughed, walking into his kitchenette. "Ahh.. no, I'm not much of a coffee, or tea drinker. I think I've had enough fruit loops!" she said laughing and poking out her stomach. "You don't honestly think you are fat do you?" Orlando said, with his eyes in disbelief. "No, well, I just need to get in better shape," she replied. "You are in pretty good shape to me," Orlando said, suavely. Jamie just laughed, pulling her shirt back down. Jamie helped herself to a glass of orange juice and sat down. She talked with Orlando for about an hour, finding out a lot about him. She decided he was pretty cool in her book, and liked everything about him, so far. She listened intently to his stories, and he did the same for hers. "Oh crap!" she said, looking at the clock. "What's wrong?" Orlando said, looking at the clock too. "Well, my boyfriend is coming over in about three hours and I have to get ready and cook dinner!" she said, pushing her chair under the table as she got up. "Oh.. you have a boyfriend?" Orlando asked, a bit disappointed. "Yeah!" she said with a smile, "Tomorrow will be our two year anniversary!" Her face lit up and she held her hands to her chest. Orlando forced a smile, he was obviously jealous. "Of course she has a boyfriend, you dummy," he thought to himself. "Well, thanks for helping me out today," he said, trying to mask the sadness in his voice as she opened his door to leave. "Oh, don't worry about it. What are neighbors for?" she smiled, brushing a curl out of her face. "I'll see you later I hope?" she said, asking him with her eyes. "Sure thing!" he answered. Her eyes hypnotized him, flickering in the sunlight. "Well, bye then!" she said as she stepped out into the hallway, and shut his door. Orlando looked at the empty glass across from him. He picked it up and put it int he sink. He checked the clock again. "Sh*t, I was supposed to be at the set by now!" he realized, grabbing his jacket and running out the door. Jamie ran frantically around her apartment. clip clop clip clop her high heals went as she scurried from her bathroom to her kitchen, trying to get her earrings in. She heard the oven go off. "Damn it!" she screamed, tripping over her own feet. She quickly pulled the lasagna out of the oven. It was her boyfriends favorite. she looked down at it proudly. No cheese was burnt, it looked perfect. She went to pull the bread out of the oven as well, but she skimmed her arm along the oven rack. "SH*T!" she screamed out loud, dropping the bread. She ran to the sink and placed her forearm under the cool water. Looking at her forearm, she sighed. " dammit, now im going to have a blister.." she thought. She turned the water off and wrapped a towel around her arm. She picked the bread off up off the floor. " eh! I'm sure its fine!" she said, plopping the loaf down on a cutting board. She set the table, putting a small candle in the middle, and lighting it. She looked at her small dinner fondly. She ran to her bathroom and quickly brushed her teeth. She looked at her watch. "Fck! 5 minutes!" she screamed, putting on deoderant and applying some mascara. She looked at herself in her bathroom mirror. She was wearing one of her new dresses she bought in New York. It was blue, covered with a black sheer material. It only covered one of her shoulders, and it scrunched up at her waist. The skirt fell a little above her knees. She turned around, checking to see if her ass looked too big. She groaned as she pulled her strapless bra up again. " come on.. just a little more cleavage!" she thought to herself, tightening her bra. Just then she heard her doorbell ring. "Ugh!" she said, with her bra still unhooked. "HOLD ON!" she yelled, frantically trying to hook her bra again. She ran towards the door and finally got it hooked. She adjusted her dress and rubbed her palms on her thighs. She opened the door and found a white rose staring at her in the face. She squealed with delight and threw her arms around her boyfriend. "Hi babe!" he said, wrapping his arms around her waist. Jamie could only smile excitedly. He pulled back from her to get a good look. "Damn, you are lookin' fine tonight! mm mm mm!" he said. "Oh Ryan I missed ya!" Jamie said, throwing her arms around him again. Ryan walked her inside, and closed the door behind them. "Wow!" he said, when he saw the lasagna and the semi-candle lit table. "My favorite!" He said, looking at Jamie. Jamie's smile was still wider than ever. She was still waiting for him to kiss her. "*ahem*" she cleared her throat, smiling playfully. Ryan laughed and wrapped his arms around her again. He leaned in to kiss her. Jamie was expecting a long, hot, passionate kiss. One a person gets when they haven't seen eachother in two months. Instead she got a quick peck on the cheek. She looked in his eyes as if to say "Thats it?" but she was too afraid to do anything more about it. Ryan let go of her and sat himself down at the table. Jamie put her rose in a vase and set it on her window sil. She wasn't smiling as much anymore, but she still felt extatic about seeing ryan again. She took her seat across from him and tried to catch his eyes. Ryan was deeply involved in serving himself the lasagna. He looked up at her.. "What are you lookin' at?" he said, laughing at her. Jamie sighed, and placed her chin in her hands. "Nothing." She waited for him finish serving himself. She set a portion of lasagna on her plate and poured herself some white wine. She studied her boyfriend again. "Whats that?" she asked, pointing to a silver chain around his neck. Ryan looked down at his chest. "This? oh, this is nothing," he said, putting it under his shirt. Something was weird, Jamie decided. She watched him eat, the room was pertty much silent except for the Marvin Gaye cd playing in her stereo. "So.. aren't you going to ask how my trip was?" she asked playfully. "Sure, how was your trip?" ryan asked, shoving a forkful of lasagna in his mouth. Jamie's heart began to feel a little sad with Ryans behavior. "Well, it was pretty nice. The art museums were amazing. I went shoping on 5th avenue. Sandra had me working almost everyday though, so I didn't get to do that much.." she trailed off, noticing he wasn't listening. She poked her lasagna with her fork. "This is our song!" she gasped, as the Marvin Gaye cd changed to her Sade cd. Ryan looked up at her and smiled, then went back to his lasagna. Jamie jumped out her her chair and took the fork out of ryans hand. "Hey!" he screeched. Jamie ignored him and pulled him out of his chair. she pulled him to the middle of her living room and put him into a dancing position. "Just dance. please?" she whined seductively in his ear. Ryan couldn't resist and found himself swaying to the rythm. Jamie began to kiss his neck, then his ears. She undid his belt buckle and unbuttoned a few of his buttons. Ryan gave in and returned her kisses. Jamie unzipped her dress, letting it fall to the floor. She stood waithing for Ryan to pick her up and carry her into the bed room and have mad hot sex with her all night. "Uh.. its getting late, I'm glad you're home babe," Ryan said, kissing her cheek again. He turned around and walked towards the door. Jamie was confused. She pulled her dress back up, embarassed. "Wait. uh, are you coming over tomorrow?" she asked, beginning to think he probably forgot. He stood with a confused look on his face. "Tomorro- Oh! yea of course.. of course! why would I miss tomorrow," he said smoothly. Smoothly enough that Jamie believed him. She watched him open the door and step outside. "Ryan!" she called after him. Ryan turned around. Jamie walked slowly and seductively to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and planted her lips firmly against his. At first he wasn't responding, but suddenly the chemistry came back. Ryan had her pinned against the outside wall, his hands rubbing her legs. Jamie jumped when she heard a set of keys drop. She looked over Ryans shoulder to see Orlando submerging from the stairs and picking up his keys. He stared dumbfounded at them. "Hey Orlando!" Jamie said, waving. Ryan turned around and gave Orlando a she's-mine look. Orlando just nodded. " why does he look so sad?" Jamie asked herself. " maybe he's just tired.. yeah thats it." Ryan noticed Jamie staring at Orlando, and he noticed Orlando shooting looks of regret at HIS girlfriend. Ryan began to kiss Jamie passionately. He picked her up and carried her inside. Orlando watched, his heart feeling as though salt had just been rubbed in it. He opened his door to his apartment and walked straight to the bedroom. He walked past the coach and thought of Jamie. He walked past his kitchenette and all he saw were Jamie's eyes. When he got ot his bedroom he turned on the tv. "Ahh! fruit loops!" he screamed in anguish. He turned off the tv and buried his face into his pillow. "Dammit." he said outloud, punching the pillow next to him. He couldn't shake the image of that Jerk with his hands all over Jamie like that. He heard faint moans through the wall, and a slight banging. He put his pillow over his head and screamed. " just get over it! its not meant to be.." Orlando screamed at himself. " but then why can't I get her out of my mind?" Jamie groaned as she slowly woke up. The sun was shining in her face and she felt naked. " oh yea, I had sex," she remembered, as she gradually gained conciousness. She looked over her pillow to see that Ryan had left already. "Ugh!" she said frusturated. "What the hell.." she growled, getting up. She went to her bathroom and took a long hot shower. " what the hell is going on.." she thought to herself as she lathered her shampoo. She felt like something was different. She felt dirty. Jamie washed her body, standing under the steaming water. She began think.. " no.. no! hah. of course he wouldn't be.. no, thats such a stupid thought," Jamie reassured herself. She pushed all her thoughts of doubt out of her head and turned off her shower. She wrapped her towel around her body and walked back into her bedroom. Rumaging through her closet, she picked out her favorite pair of jeans, which had rips and tears all over the place. She had had them since her senior year of High School. She pulled them on and looked in the mirror. The pockets were pretty much useless; they had holes in them too. Jamie turned back to her closet and looked for a shirt to wear. She pulled out her NCState long sleeve shirt. Every time she wore it she felt accomplished. She had been to college, she had been successful. Coming from a small town in South Carolina, she never really thought that she had much of a future. All she had to hold on to was her love for fashion and design, and above all her art. Little did she know, then, that she would end up living in LA, in a not to shabby apartment, selling her designs to companies around the world. She dreamed of becoming a well known fashion designer, holding her own fashion shows. " someday.." she thought to herself. As Jamie pulled the shirt on, she looked at herself in the mirror. She laughed, "I look like a teenager again!" She went back to her bathroom and brushed her teeth. She scrunched her hair and let it fall a few inches below her shoulders. "eh, screw the make up," Jamie said outloud, putting back the concealer she just picked up. She escaped her bathroom and went to the kitchen. "Mmm Pancakes!" Jamie squealed excitedly, reaching for the pancake mix. She read the box and got out her ingredients. She went to get the milk. "Dammit.." she said as she remembered she had used the last of it with her Fruit Loops the morning before. "Fruit Loops.." she mumbled, thinking of Orlando. "Orlando will have milk!" Jamie opened her door and scurried out into the hall. She knocked on Orlando's door and put her hands in her pockets, feeling her skin through the holes. The door opened to reveal a very tired looking Orlando. He had one eye open and his hair was flat. "Morning sunshine!" Jamie said laughing. Orlando grumbled and scratched his stubbled chin. He rubbed his eyes and smiled at Jamie. "Yea yea, what do you want now," he joked. "Well I wanted to make pancakes, but I don't have any milk. I was wondering if I could borrow some of yours," Jamie explained. Orlando, who now had both eyes open said, "Hmm.. I don't have any REAL milk, I don't do milk. I have soy milk, though." He leaned on inside of his door way and smiled sheepishly. " cute," Jamie thought to herself smiling back. "That should work, I've never tried it, but I REALLY want some pancakes," she laughed. Orlando gestured to her to come in. He dragged his feet to his refrigerator and opened it. Jamie waited by the door, looking around. Orlando returned with a carton of soy milk. Jamie took it, smiling at him. "Thanks.." she said, opening the door and stepping out into the hallway. She turned around to Orlando. "Hey, do you want some pancakes? The recipe makes 6, and I can't eat six pancakes all by myself," Jamie asked. She didn't know what made her ask. "Uh, s-sure, s-sounds grea- yea, sure i'd love to have some pancakes," Orlando stuttered. He caught her eyes again. He felt his shoulders relax and his heart skip a beat. Jamie grabbed his hand and pulled him out into the hallway, and she dragged him to her apartment. "Have a seat!" Jamie said, turning on the TV and pointing towards her couch. SHe left him and walked back towards her kitchen. Orlando sat down and looked around her apartment. "This is nice," he yelled to her. Jamie had begun to mix her ingredients. "Yeah, I'm proud of it," she yelled back. Orlando got up and walked around. He didn't like TV anyway. He looked at the pictures that were propped up here and there. "Ugh." he said softly, as he came across one of Ryan giving Jamie a piggy back ride. He checked to see if Jamie was coming, then quickly put the picture face down. He chuckled to himself and moved to the next picture. It was of Veronica and Jamie at some sort of party. Veronica was hugging the daylights out of Jamie, and Jamie had a priceless smile on her face, as though she were laughing. He softly ran his finger along the glass. He looked up and laughed when he saw a picture of a little girl with her arms crossed and her face in a pout as a bigger boy held a barbie teasingly in front of her face. He picked up the picture frame and walked into the kitchen. "Who's this precious little girl?" he said, showing the picture to Jamie. Jamie looked up from the skillet and laughed. "Thats me and my borther Jared." "This is you?!" Orlando looked back down at the picture and examined it. The same curls, the bright blue eyes. He laughed out loud. "cute!" he said looking back up at her. Jamie smiled and looked down at her skillet and flipped the pancake. "Whoa, how do you do that?" Orlando asked, walking over to her. "You've never made pancakes?" Jamie asked astonished. "No! Why, is that a crime?" "yes! Pancakes are classic!" Jamie laughed. "Lock me up then," Orlando purred sexily. Jamie felt excited when he said that in the tone of voice he did. She broke into a fit of giggles. She looked up at him and studied his face. His soft brown eyes were studying her as well. She caught a quick glance at his mouth and shot her eyes back at her pancake. "Sht!" she screamed, as she looked down at her burnt pancake. She quickly moved it off the skillet, and sighed. "I'll eat that one, don't worry," she said softly, pulling a curl out of her face. "Do you want to try to make one?" she said with a grin. Orlando looked at the spatula and then the skillet. He looked up at her with nervous eyes. "Um.. sure!" he said excited, grabbing the spatula out of her hand. Jamie laughed at him and stepped aside. "Okay, first, take that ladel and dip it into the batter until its full," she instructed. Orlando did what he was told and waited for the next direction. "Now, pour that onto the skillet, make sure he heat is on low." He checked the heat first and then poured the batter on slowly. He looked up at her, excited, and then back down at the skillet. Jamie chuckled. "Once you start to see bubbles, flip the pancake," she said. They sat silently, as Orlando stared at the pancake, waiting for it to bubble. "Its bubbling! It's bubbling!" he squealed. He went to flip the pancake and realized that it wasn't going to be as easy as he thought. He looked up at Jamie and screamed 'help' with his eyes. "What are you waiting for?" Jamie asked. She moved closer to him and looked at the bubbling pancake. "Flip it!" she laughed. "I can't!" "Why?" Jamie was laughing hysterically at Orlando. He looked so tense and he had one hand on the skillet handle and the other held the spatula hesitantly over the pancake. "I'm going to mess it up!" he screamed, starting to laugh as well. "I'll show you," Jamie said, putting her hand on the hand that held the spatula. She squeezed between him and the skillet and moved his arm. "Loosen up Orlando!" she giggled, shaking his arm around. Orlando laughed nervously. Not only was he nervous about flipping the pancake, but he was so close to Jamie, and her hand was on his. He could smell her hair, and it smelled good. "Okay, you have to get it under the pancake, all the way," she said, guiding his hand while moving the spatula under the pancake. "Okay.. now.. you.. FLIP!" she said, taking her hand off of his as he flipped the pancake excitedly. The pancake only flipped over half way. Batter was flowing out and the pancake looked like a sad blob. "Aw man!" Orlando said disappointed. Jamie could not control herself and she laughed and laughed. "Stop!" Orlando said, laughing too. He looked at his pathetic pancake, half burnt. Jamie put her hands over her mouth and tried to stop laughing. Orlando looked adoringly at Jamie as she laughed. "Okay, funny girl," he said acting sad. He picked up the skillet and walked over to the trash can. "No! I'll eat it!" Jamie said, running over to him and grabbing his arm. She looked up at him, and he looked down at her. Neither of them were laughing anymore. The looked into eachothers eyes again. Jamie let her eyes drift from Orlando's eye's to his mouth, and then back to his eyes again. Orlando's body was screaming inside as Jamie's long eyelashes batted up at him. He licked his lips. "You will?" he asked softly, feeling himself get closer to Jamie. He could smell her hair again, and he felt like he was falling into a state of oblivion. "Uh huh," Jamie said, barely concentrating on his question. She closed her eyes and waited to feel Orlando's beautiful mouth on hers. She did nto get the satisfaction though, because just then the phone rang. Her eyes shot open and she jumped. She ran to the phone and answered it. "He-hello?" she stammered, avoiding Orlando's stare. Orlando set the skillet down and hopped up onto the counter. The mood was ruined. He listened to Jamie's conversation. "Why?" she said disappointed. "A business date? Hun, its out two year anniversary, can't you just cancel it?" "uh huh, yea, ok fine. Alright." Grace said, scratching her head. She sounded frusturated. "Bye," she said, hanging up the phone. She turned around to Orlando. "So much for the big two year anniversary," she said sullenly. She looked at the floor. "I'm sorry," Orlando said after a while. He didn't really know what to say, since he wasn't really sorry at all. "Yeah," Jamie said, "Well, back to pancakes!" She seemed to just shake it off and put on a mile. "You'd better make the rest," Orlando laughed. Jamie giggled, returning the skillet to the stove.
