Aphylia part 9...

Aphylia shut the glass door. Her face was wet with tears. She made no motion to wipe them off though.
Her mind was blank. What was there to think? She went straight to her bed. Shutting off the lamp on the bedside table she pulled the covers over her.
Legolas stood in a stupor outside still. He watched sadly as Aphylia went inside and shut off the lights. Deftly, he jumped over the patio dividers and went into his own room. He stared at the wall opposite his bed. He needed a drink. Pulling on sweater he walked outside.
The thump, thump of footsteps awoke Aphylia. She stared sleepily at her door. Legolas? No knock. Another tear went down her cheek. he didn't stop, was all she could think.
Orlando paused at Aphylia's door. But, not long. He quickened his pace and went instead down the stairs. He was sick of elevators.
Downstairs he met up with Viggo and Liv. They were having some coffee. Elijah waved from the other side of the dining room. Orlando waved back.
Aphylia listened as the door slammed to the emergency stairs. She got out of bed and flipped on the lights. Quickly she walked over to the desk on one side of the room. It had a hotel pad of paper on it. Pens were laid neatly beside it. She grabbed a pen and began writing,
Orlando,
It was nice to see you again after all these years. I'm sorry it had to end like this.
Aphylia stopped and chewed on the pen cap. She continued.
Call me, K? Then she listed her phone number.
I love you,
Aphylia
She looked at the paper. Well that was pointless. Why did she just do that? Oh well. There'd probably be no chance of seeing him again tomorrow. The phone number had been pointless as well. He wouldn't call her after what had happened.
Aphylia looked outside at the patio again. Then geting up she walked outside her room and slid her note under his door. She looked down the hallway towards the elevators as if hoping he might be coming back. No one. The hallway was empty except for her.
Sighing again she went quietly back into her room and shut the door.
That morning Aphylia looked oncemore at Orlando's door. He didn't read the letter. She looked on the floor to see one corner of it still sticking out from under the door. Oh well. Oncemore we shall be split up. This time without a goodbye.
Walking back to her room she stuffed her clothing in a suitcase. She could hear Laura blundering around her bedroom sleepily, next door. Aphylia smiled. Getting dressed in a pair of shorts and a long sleeve shirt she dragged her suitcase outside. A busboy was already waiting with a luggage carrier thingy. He helped Aphylia load he stuff onto it then said, "the girl named Molly said to meet her down in the dining room."
Aphylia thanked him then tipped him. She skipped the elevator as well. She raced down the emergency steps and out into the dining room. Molly waved at her from a table. Sandra, Molly's boyfriend, and Sandra's boyfriend were already eating.
"Still Laura left, Aye?" asked Sandra sleepily.
"Yep! I think she just woke up."
"Mmmmmmm. Lia try the omelettes (sp?) there delicious!" Molly pointed her fork at a half eaten omelette.
"Sounds good. I'll try one." Walking over to the Omelette making area she spotted Elijah Wood at a table with Viggs.
They both waved at her. Viggs gave her a big grin. Aphylia blushed. She made her way over to the breakfast serving area and grabbed some fruit. The chef made her a veggie omelette. She thanked him then went back to her table.
By then Laura and her boyfriend were there. They both looked unawake. Aphylia smiled. Scooching in she sat by Molly.
Molly stared at Aphylia's plate, "they have veggie omelettes? Oooh I'm getting one."
Getting up Molly went back to the omelette making area. Aphylia shook her head, pig, she thought.
After breakfast, everyone piled into the car. Aphylia had looked around for Orlando. Nowhere. Darnit!. She sighed. Looking out the window at the hotel she whispered goodbye.
Meanwhile. Orlando yawned and stretched. He felt heavy inside. Man! Why did this all have to happen? He punched the sheets in frustration. Aphylia! It would have been better if they had never met in the first place. Never had been friends.
He grumbled off to the bathroom and washed his face. Getting dressed he went towards the door. A white sheet was poking out from under the door. He bent down to pick it up.
Orlando.... His read the rest. Wait! She couldn't be leaving! And without a goodbye?
He opened the door and looked over at the room where Aphylia was in. A laundry ladies cart was in the opening.Gone?!? Already?!?
Orlando ran down the emergency stairs. Maybe she was still here! In the dining room maybe! With a new hope he birst into the dining room.
His face dropped. The room was empty except for Viggs and Elijah. They smiled at him and waved for him to join them.
"Hey sleepy head!" Viggo took a sip of coffee, "Where've you been all morning?"
"Morning.. Wha?" Orlando looked at a clock on the wall. 12:00?!?!?!?!? Aaaaaack! He'd slept in so late!
Elijah looked at him, "Whats wrong?"
Orlando looked at him, "did you see Aphylia at all this morning?"
"Who?"asked Elijah and Viggs at the same time.
"Ya know that girl I was talking to at the premiere. The one you scared off at the elevator, Elijah." He stared at them hopefully. Come on, come on! She had to have been here!
"Oh her! That one chick! Oh yeah shes been here! She left like 3 hours ago!" Viggs remembered.
"What?!?!?!?" Orlando was hysterical now, "No! She couldn't have it isn't possible! We won't....." he trailed of, we won't see each other again.
"Woah whats wrong with you Orlando? Did you like her or something?" asked Elijah.
"Yeah... and a little more." He got up and started to walk to the elevator.
"Wait where are you going? You haven't even eaten breakfast yet!" called Viggo after him.
"I gotta think!" Orlando called over his shoulder.
He got into the elevator and looked at the now crumpled note from Aphylia. He unfolded it. Rereading it he stopped. The elevator door opened.
Just as he was starting down the hall he came to her number. Thats it, he thought. With a primitive shout he raced to his room and towards the phone.
Orlando stopped just as he reached the phone. Wait. What if she doesn't want me to call her? What if she isn't home yet? He looked blandly at the note. Maybe if I waited till I got to my home and called her from there. That might be better. Or?
Orlando paused. His stomach growled. Or I'll eat.. and chicken out. He sighed. Why was he so afraid to just dial her number? It was just Aphylia. He looked at the phone again. Quickly he snatched it and dialed. Ring........... Ring.................Ring.................
.....Hello you've reached 243-1987 Lia is not here to recieve your call so please leave a message at the tone....... Beep.......
Orlando looked at the phone. He couldn't do it. Slamming the phone down he backed away and rushed out the door again. Maybe later when he gathered up enough courage. He stopped before he pushed the down button on the elevator. Looking over his shoulder he shook his head.
*later that week*
Aphylia sighed. She was just out of school and had a bunch of homework to do. Not to mention projects and tests. Right when she walked in she dropped her stuff to check the answering machine.
"The time is 3:30 o'clock no knew messages.........Beep!" Stupid machine, she thought. Why didn't he call?
Because I'm a stupid mindless jerk who has no care for others feelings and dreams. Her lower lip trembled. Legolas. She walked away from the answering machine and went over to the fridge. I'll never see him again, she thought. Maybe in movies . And arm in arm with another actress or a model. She clenched the milk carton in anger. Never. Her blue eyes flashed. He could never be with anyone else but me!
Aphylia stopped. She was shocked with herself. Am I jealous? Of things that haven't even happened yet? She put the milk carton down. Massaging (sp?) her temples she sat in a nearby chair.
For the love of... she paused... love! Aaaaaaargh! Why couldn't they just go run off to Lothlorien like Legolas had wanted? Why couldn't she have just said yes to everything he said?
This was turning into one of those mortal soap opera shows, she thought. Missed chances. Fights. Ugh!
Aphylia shook her head with disgust. Well I'm gonna end that. Maybe I should go steady with a guy at Lynbrook, She thought. Laura or someone could hook me up. I could forget about Legolas and just go on with my life?
No. She couldn't do that. Life without Legolas, even if they didn't see each other, would be awful! And going out with a mortal. Aphylia stuck her tongue out. Yuck! Why had she even thought of that. Suddenly Aphylia was startled out of her day dreams by the sudden Ring of the telephone.
